Cataloguing files

Files showing a big red “X” have not been added to the LibraryLink catalogue (see figure below).

Typically the following steps are involved in cataloguing files:

  1. Find files: Use the “Location” tree to navigate to the folder containing the files
  2. Add files to catalogue: Either select individual files and click the “Make Selected” button on the toolbar, or use the “Scan Folder” and ”Scan Tree” buttons from the toolbar to add all files within the current folder and/or subfolders
  3. Add metadata: This can be done for each file individually or simultaneously for a number of files to save data entry time. Select the file/files and then click the “Annotate”, “Assign User Fields” and “Add Keyword(s)” buttons to add the relevant metadata.
